Key Responsibilities:
- New Balance’s Core Footwear Compliance Manager is responsible for facilitating the implementation New Balance Compliance Standards into the operations of our core footwear and component suppliers’ operations, and for assuring that all non-directly owned factories producing New Balance footwear and components operate in compliance with local law and international standards.
- The position will be responsible for moving a well-developed program with a staff of 5 Compliance Specialists to the next level, and for assuring that compliance awareness goes deep into supplier operations as well as broadly across the supply chain.
- Developing training programs for factory managers and workers in order to assure that compliance is internally driven from within the suppliers’ organizations instead of externally by New Balance will be the key goal.
Job Requirements:
- 5 years of experience dealing with working conditions in Asia, including significant experience with factory-based compliance programs in the region
- Understanding of factory and supply chain operations
- Strong understanding of codes of conduct, and international labor standards
- Extensive experience designing and implementing training programs for factory managers and workers.
- Strong knowledge of CSR issues in Asia, familiarity with the NGO environment and multi-stakeholder initiatives
- Ability to develop, get buy-in, and implement programs to improve factory management systems and overall working conditions
- Native fluency in spoken and written Chinese (Mandarin), as well as near-native written and spoken English. Knowledge of Vietnamese or Indonesian desirable.
