Professional Compliance Community Kickoff on Dec 10 in Guangzhou

Professional Compliance Community (PCC), a BSR initiative, aims to provide knowledge and platform for compliance community. This program is designed around a three-year horizon, with year one focused on deepening the group’s knowledge base, year two opening up participation beyond multinationals and year three aims for PCC to become an independently operating community.

On Dec 10, the program kicked off in Guangzhou with 19 participants from 11 brands such as Apple, Avery Dennison, Disney, Gap, Hanes, JCPenny, Jones Apparel, Liz Claiborne, Li & Fung, Limited brands, Nike and Timberland. Participants were discussing on challenges and opportunities in compliance community and focus for upcoming one-year training and networking activities.

The following topics are the themes which the participants expect from BSR for the community building:

1. System/Framework/Theme
All participants mentioned systems and framework. Participants expect this capacity building program can provide systems for practitioner to refer to.

2. Expert view
BSR is expected to bring industry experts to share and provide hands-on practices for compliance staff while they are working with suppliers for continuous improvement projects.

3. Case study illustration
All participants expect BSR to build a platform for good practice sharing among brands and suppliers.

4. Dialogue -- “how do I apply?”
BSR is expected to facilitate the dialogue with local stakeholders and provide realistic and effective perspectives to engage with different stakeholders.

5. Take-away/learning: Document & Gap Analysis
Good practices can be documented and share among practitioners and vendors.
